Laser Cladding/Consolidation Workshop
September 22nd, 2010
The Industrial Materials Institute of the National Research
Council (NRC-IMI), in collaboration with the Society of
Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and the Product Development and
Management Association (PDMA), will host a one-day workshop on
Laser Cladding/Consolidation (Additive Manufacturing Technology)
on September 22nd, 2010 at NRC’s Centre for Automotive Materials
and Manufacturing in London, Ontario.
This workshop will provide manufacturing and design engineers
with an understanding of Laser Cladding/Consolidation processes
for:
• Fabrication of functional net shape metal components from
powder raw material without moulds or dies and with minimal
material waste
• Production, reinforcement and repair of high-strength and wear
resistant features on tools and critical mechanical components
Presentations will be provided by leading researchers in this
technology area, as well as by industrial companies with
experience applying Laser Cladding/Consolidation in their
businesses.
Participants will be encouraged to offer their insights
regarding potential industrial applications of this technology,
and mechanisms by which it can be most effectively and
efficiently made available to the regional manufacturing
community.
A tour of NRC-IMI’s newly-established Laser Cladding/Consolidation
Prototyping Service Lab will also be provided.
Please note that the feefor the participation
in this workshop is $25 Can.
As space is limited to 90 participants, early registration
is encouraged.
