Pre–APS Workshop on Nanoscience and Nanostructured Materials Delta Centre-VilleMarch 19–20, 2004 Montreal, Quebec, Canada An initiative of: Quebec Materials Network and NanoQuebec Conference Co–Chairs: F. Rosei (INRS–EMT), T. Veres (NRC–IMI) Organizing committee: F. Rosei (INRS-EMT), T. Veres (NRC-IMI), R. Sing (NanoQuebec), B. Terreault (INRS-EMT) M. Dumoulin (NRC-IMI)
Objectives Taking advantage of the APS (American Physical Society) March Meeting in Montreal in 2004 (March 22–26, 2004), we are planning a focused workshop on Nanoscience and Nanostructured Materials on March 19th and 20th. The goal is to bring together some of the high caliber “nano” speakers that will participate in the APS meeting into a more focused two–day workshop, to promote scientific discussions and interactions (which are cumbersome at the APS itself, because of the size of the meeting and all the competing parallel sessions). The workshop would therefore be complementary to the larger and broader APS meeting. TopicsThe workshop will cover the following topics:
Three oral sessions (Friday morning and afternoon, Saturday morning) and one poster session (Saturday afternoon). The oral sessions would be mainly composed of Keynote (Invited) talks. Depending on final program adjustments, there may be a few slots (5–10) available for Oral presentation. However, since one of the primary objectives of this workshop is to foster discussions and interactions among participants, we strongly encourage to take full advantage of the poster session. |
