Innovation and Sustainable Development

INNO.09 is the most wide-ranging innovation conference to ever take place in Montreal: 4 conferences under one roof spanning 2 days – April 23-24, 2009. INNO.09 will be an unparalleled opportunity to learn about the current and future trends of industrial innovation. It will also be a great occasion to network with specialists in nanotechnology and industrial materials. You will learn of the most recent innovations and their applications in sectors such as innovation management, materials and sustainable development, electric vehicles and innovation funding.

INNO.09 is the result of an extraordinary collaboration between the National Research Council Canada (NRC-CNRC), NanoQuébec, ADRIQ and the Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en sécurité du travail (IRSST).

Thursday, April 23
Symposium on Innovation Management

Three sessions presented by ADRIQ, in collaboration with Hydro-Quebec’s Research Institute, the Federation of Plastics and Alliances Composites and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office
Session 1 : Open Innovation – Business Opportunities
Session 2: Business Models : Innovation for Industrials
Session 3: Knowledge Management: Business, IP and Development

Symposium on Materials and Sustainable Development
Session 1: Solar Energy
Session 2: Batteries and Surcapacitors

Friday, April 24
Symposium on Electric Vehicles
The development of green vehicles holds enormous attention, both at government agencies, research and industrial as well as on the international scene with an impressive number of projects launched in North America, Asia and the All of Europe. The symposium on the development and deployment of electric vehicles and hybrids of INNO.09 is an opportunity to discuss present and future and the technology roadmap of electric and hybrid vehicles. The symposium is also a great opportunity for developers and manufacturers of electric vehicles, propulsion components and operators of power grids to demonstrate their latest developments and their visions.

Session 1: Electric and Hybrid Vehicles - Past, Present & Future
Session 2: Technology Roadmap and OEM’s Developments and Challenges
Session 3: Alternative Propulsion and Link with the Grid

Symposium on New Generation Materials and Safety

Discover a whole new world of possibilities and launch your enterprise to new heights. Nanotechnologies are the science and technologies that allow you to control matter at the atomic and molecular level thereby producing amazing new and improved properties that were not possible before. A subset of these technologies is applicable to new generation materials, producing tougher, harder and lighter materials all at the same time. Nanomaterials and nanostructured materials are key elements of innovation for Québec’s enterprises, and it is already accessible.

Science does not have yet answers to all the questions raised by nanotechnologies and their potential impact on the workers’ and the researchers’ health and safety. How can the risks related to the handling of nanoparticles be controlled? Which preventive measures can be implemented to reduce exposure to nanoparticles? Does the approach of control banding apply to manage the risks? Should we be concerned about ventilation issues? What about respiratory and skin protection measures? Is there any effective protective clothing? Here are some fundamental issues that will be discussed at INNO 2009.

Session 1: New Generation Materials
Session 2: Nanomaterials and Safety
Session 3: Nanomaterials and MEMS
